Volunteer Services

The Volunteers in Police Services Program is set up to allow citizens an inside view of the police department while providing needed police services within the community.

Volunteers serve an important role within the department because of the diversity of responsibilities they undertake on a daily basis.

Duties

In the spirit of Community Policing, volunteers are tasked with a variety of roles to bring the police department closer to the community. The following list represents some of our volunteers' duties:

  • Abandoned Vehicle Monitoring
  • Clerical Duties
  • Community Events
  • Community Watch Meetings
  • Crime Prevention Programs
  • Crime Scene Control
  • Department Tours
  • Gang Awareness Programs
  • Graffiti Patrol
  • Neighborhood Patrol
  • Traffic Control
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications for Volunteer Program

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a police background check
  • No felony convictions
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Valid California Driver License

Hiring Process for Volunteer Program

  3. Police Background Investigation
  4. Fingerprint/Law Enforcement Clearance

In addition, Sanger Police Department offers opportunities to college/high school students interested in working in an unpaid student intern position to meet community services class requirements.
