The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their homes, workplaces, and communities.

Volunteers

CERT is made up of volunteers who have gone through a nine-module course that provides basic emergency response skills, particularly skills that would be of value during a disaster when first responder resources may be overwhelmed.

The Nine Module Course

The nine course modules include:

  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Fire Safety and Suppression
  • Incident Command System
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Medical Operations 1 and 2
  • Terrorism and more

At the completion of the training, volunteers are given a chance to practice their skills during a disaster drill.

Goal

CERT's goal is to promote a safer home and community for you to live in. We are part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and are partnered with the Sanger Fire Department. For information on the CERT Program, please contact Sanger Fire at 559-875-6568.
