[ARCHIVED] City of Sanger Helping Local Business & Residents

Sanger Business and Residents Yellow, black letters, City Logos

How is the City of Sanger helping its local businesses & residents?

The City of Sanger is supporting local businesses and residents while we patiently look forward to the time when business can thrive again. The City is supporting businesses financially in the following ways:

  1. Sales Tax and Measure S delay in tax collections by the State. As business owners may be aware, Governor Newsom issued an executive order allowing small businesses to postpone remitting up to $50,000 in total sales tax. Businesses can use the sales tax as a bridge loan interest-free. Only part of the $50,000 in total sales tax belongs to the State. The rest belongs to the City and other local governments. The City’s share of every $50,000 not remitted from sales taxable in Sanger is $10,000.

  1. The City is waiving penalties and late fees on utility bills issued on or after March 17, 2020, for residents and businesses until the end of the public health emergency. The City will work out a repayment plan with the residents and businesses who are unable to pay their utility bills on time.  ** Please note Disposal is EXCLUDED from postponed penalties and fees.

  1. The City is extending the term of all current business licenses by three months. This means each current business license now covers 15 months instead of 12 months.

Appreciatively,

Bret Harmon | Admin Services Director | City of Sanger
